And three things from U.F.O! This rocks my universe. Weirdly, the only three things I don’t get are the California blonde in the shorts and t-shirt in front of TARDIS next to Leela (Jaime Sommers? That would make the German Shepherd the bionic dog), the blonde superhero between the Dalek and Captain America, and the blue and red spaceship in the upper left.

And is that Richard Benjamin as Quark? Yes, I do believe it is. Tip o’ the sonic screwdriver to. The guy in the yellow boxers is the Man From Atlantis, Mark something. Ah!, that was it. I had a couple of the books as a kid, and then caught one or two episodes. Good fun stuff, with just a whiff of the underlying mythos that became common once X-Files and Babylon 5 took over the hearts and minds.

This is not a seventies-only collection, though; not with the there – he started in 1981. And I’m disappointed that there’s no sign of, the greatest starship in all of history. Isn’t it time they did a remake of Blake’s Seven, with? Nice indeed — but missing a couple of staples: Blake’s 7 (as one commenter already noted) and Space Battleship Yamato / Star Blazers.

The former tends to be remembered poorly, but in fact was very well written and extremely influential (Babylon 5 and Farscape each owe a lot to it); the latter essentially defined space opera anime, and its Americanised version was unusual in being relatively true to the original. I remember it along with Battle of the Planets; each was quite popular in the late 70s.

As for nitpicking the TARDIS is way too small! I don’t know what they fed these superheroines but they’re all extremely top heavy. Don’t get me wrong, there’s generally nothing wrong with these female archetypeswell except for the failed realistic expectations once the pubescent years pass.

Then again, it’s not much different than the enhanced expectations that the modern day version of these women represent. It does make me wonder how it effects their aerodynamic flight, or their fighting angles. I’m sure there’s some major physics involved regarding their higher-than-normal center of gravity, but alas, we’re getting too deeply involved in minutae. Floppy disk emulator software. Still, there are some real-world natural versions of these women and that does give me the warm fuzzies inside. Systematization, folks, systematization. What kind of dorks are you if you don’t systematize? I peeked in wikipedia.

Just the Buck Rogers page to confirm the robot’s name, and: The fellow in white in a heroic pose above: no ideaThat would be Buck Rogers himself The small robot: Twiggy (?)Twiki, from Buck Rogers (digidigidi! Hello, Buck!) The blonde in white: hm maybe the doctor, from Space: 1999That would be Wilma Deering. It’s funny how I still remember the robots after all these years but completely forgot the humans in this show. IN my defense, I never liked it, and watched only quite sporadically. Jorge, nice list! Here’s some missing I figured out: -Man in red sport wear, front near left; Steve “6 Million Dollar Man” Austin -Man with red jumpsuit and big white triangle: Mork, from Mork and Mindy -Man flying, in red: Ralph Hinkley AKA The Greatest American Hero -Man in white, on his ship in the back, most likely Buck Rogers -The blond in front of Hulk, I’m pretty sure is Wilma Deering from Buck Rogers -The blond in front of the Police Box looks like the original Jamie Sommers AKA Bionic Woman -The dog between Sommers and Who, gotta be The Littlest Hobo People, any other fills? I collected the whole set.

“The alieness with the christmas-tree brain: another annoyingly familiar character” is Lucifer from Battlestar Galactica; IIRC, he’s an “LX-Series Cylon”, and he was Baltar’s advisor for some time. And the guy on the pedestal is not Baltar, but the Cylon Leader. Baltar has never been a beauty, but he can be distingiushed from the Cylon Leader as he does not have glowing eyes. Also, the second Colonial Warrior (brown coat) is definitely Apollo, given that he’s even portrayed lefthanded (just maybe his smile is a little overdone). Can anyone explain that German Shepherd to me? I’ve seen the Bionic Man and Woman as a kid, but I do not recall a Bionic Dog.
